The beautiful Hauraki Gulf is considered to be one of the most biologically and geographically diverse marine parks in the world. It is also one of the world's richest habitats for marine mammals. 22 species of dolphins and whales have been seen here.
Your safari will take you beyond the islands of Rangitoto and Waiheke, into the open water of the Hauraki Gulf. You can see dolphins and whales in this beautiful area all year round. Your skilled crew has over 35 years combined experienced finding and interacting with dolphins and whales. You can find common dolphins, you will see Bryd's whales throughout the year, and sometimes are lucky enough to see these majestic whales lunge-feeding through large schools of fish.
Other species seen through the year are Bottlenose dolphins and Orca (Killer Whales). You will experience the Hauraki Gulf from the comfort of a luxury 20 meter Powercat. This high speed vessel is designed specifically for the water conditions of the Hauraki Gulf. Check out real snow and ice, and see the cute King and Gentoo penguins on your snow cat ride through the Antarctic Encounter. You will then be taken on an exclusive Nature New Zealand Encounter Show at Auckland Zoo. Never offered before, this encounter will showcase New Zealand's native species. Experience a close encounter with a silent flight of the Morepork (owl), a tame kiwi scavenging for food, the Kereru (wood pigeon) swallowing large native fruit, and the cold clammy stare of a living dinosaur - the Tuatara.
There's no escaping the lure of the ocean. The next stop is Auckland's famous Waitemata Harbor. Enjoy a cruise aboard a Pride of Auckland yacht, going where the wind and tide conditions suggest. Finish your Auckland experience at the top of the Sky Tower, the tallest building in the Southern Hemisphere at 328 meters (1000ft), is built to take you to an all time high. Depart Auckland this morning and head north over the Auckland Harbor Bridge to enjoy spectacular rural and coastal scenery en-route to the Bay of Islands. Directly on your arrival in Paihia, board the Dolphin Adventures Eco Marine Safari.
Dolphins are one of the earth's most fascinating creatures and the Bay of Islands are blessed with their presence all year round. The Bay has the warmest waters in New Zealand, perfect for swimming with Dolphins.
Delight in watching Dolphins as they interact with you. The staff have years of experience finding Dolphins in the Bay and an intimate knowledge of their behavior. The small vessel allows for closer interaction as you see and hear Dolphins and Whales from the low viewing deck and the underwater microphone.
