Cooking tours are one of most popular Asian travel experiences as they help travelers unlock the secrets to their favorite dishes. A cooking tour not only allows you to get to know the local food, it is also an ideal way to get to know a country, such as Vietnam, better. Your Hanoi cooking class will be held at Highway4 - one of the very best local restaurants in Hanoi. Highway4 is a Vietnamese culinary institution amongst locals, travelers and expatriates.
Your half-day tour begins with a guided walk around the famous Hang Be Street market, deep in the heart of Hano's Old Quarter. Here you will learn more about the various local ingredients including vegetables, fruits and Vietnamese herbs and spices. Your local guide will ensure that you get the most out of this walk before taking your newfound knowledge to your cooking class at Highway4.
On beginning your Vietnamese cooking class a professional chef's jacket and hat is provided. Looking and feeling like a professional chef will give you added confidence! The class is held in small groups (usually 2-10 people) to enhance interactivity with the head chef. You will have your own cooking station for your hands-on lesson.
At midday we will sit down and enjoy the fruits of our efforts - there are several menus to choose from and each menu consists of 3 dishes to prepare. Happy eating! |

21. Introduction to French Cooking in Paris
Born in 1960 on an Alberta ranch near Calgary, Countess Rosabelle left Canada with her parents, East European aristocrats - at the age of 11, first to North Africa, then to the wonderfully hospitable South-West of France. She became a student in Paris and with a degree in English Literature and Art History, she worked for almost twenty years in the art business before completely changing her professional activity to teaching her "Introduction to French cooking" courses.
Each participant is given a copy of all the recipes in English, which are read, then explained either in English, French or both with special attention given to the culinary vocabulary. The practical, hands-on class then starts. Her recipes are very easy and practical to make but at the same time adding a little modernity to traditional meals. The menu changes daily and monthly so there is always something different.
Everybody takes an active part in the making of all the recipes (peeling, chopping, stirring, tasting, etc). Preparation and cooking are done in Rosabelle's kitchen, meals are served in the dining-room and last between 45 minutes and an hour. Enjoy a quick cup of coffee or herbal tea in the sitting room as you gather the recipes which have been annotated, add a cover-sheet with the menu of the day and bind them with a piece of ribbon. |

25. Tuscan Wine Cellar and Cooking Course with Lunch and Dinner
Depart Pisa for Casciana Terme and enjoy some time to take a walk on the narrow central streets of the well-known spa center.
Transfer to a nearby wine cellar to have a lunch based on typical food products of the region (bruschetta, wine, extra virgin olive oil, salami).
After lunch, continue to a farm house in the greenery to start your cooking lessons. You will be given some useful tools, such as an apron, a knife and a cutting board.
